After the capitulation of the German Empire in 1918, the war-weary troops of the German 8th Army withdrew from the eastern Baltics before the Red Army.
In order to protect the transport of troops and material, the so-called Iron Brigade was recruited from soldiers of the army from November 29th.
The
"Iron Division"
was the name of a military unit made up of German volunteers that took part in the Latvian War of Independence in the Baltics in 1919. It was the best-known formation of the Freikorps in the Baltics.
These troops fought together with the so-called Belarusian Army, Balts, Russians and Germans against the Bolshevik troops of the Red Army!
The commander of these troops was the Russian general
Pawel Michailowitsch Bermondt-Awaloff

The unit was defeated by the Red Army in the Battle of Riga and then disbanded.

The cross has
black glass enamel
on the front side, which is undamaged.
There are also two crossed swords and a skull.
The skull was the symbol of the Iron Division.
On the back is the manufacturer's stamp of  Jeweler Godet & Berlin, I took photos.
